some stereotypes just don't fit....

that's what this post is all about. stereotypes that just don't fit. at least jot anymore.

for a long time gamers have gotten a really bad rap, they are seen as insensitive, selfish, vulgar 40 year olds who live in their mothers basements getting all their sustenance from hot pockets and mountain dew. and in some cases that's true, but the simple fact is, that situation is rare anymore, gamers now encompass people from all walks of life, and most of them are Damn decent folks. take this story for instance,

http://m.kotaku.com/5638353/an-open-letter-from-the-company-of-heroes-developers-widow

this poor woman's husband was a game designer who.sacrificed himself to save the lives of his wife and unborn child. when the gaming community found out they did something to prove my point, gamers banded together to offer support, both emotionally and financially to the grieving widow.

to sum this up, I have one request, next time you see a gamer or hear someone talking about it, don't judge them based on old stereotypes, chances are that they are a good person who would be there for his fellow man when they are in need.

Can Vs. Should

Okay, like I said in my previous post, I was driving home from class and heard something that pissed me off. What I heard was that there is a pastor over in Gainsville who, on Saturday the 11th is planning on burning as many copies of the Koran as he can get his hands on. I was in a rage, I wanted to drive over there, drop a copy of the bible on top of the fire and make sure he knew that there was nothing he could do because I was exercising the same right he was.

It's like this mosque thing in new york. Do they have the right to burn the Koran or build a mosque further away from Ground Zero than the media is making it sound like but close none the less? abso-fucking-lutely. I'm not arguing that at all. my question is not one of can, it's one of should. should this guy burn these Korans? No, he wants to call himself a christian pastor and yet is so incredibly intolerant, unforgiving, and an all around ass. Should the muslims build a mosque as close to ground zero as they are? No, They say they are not extremists and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt but they still should try and be a little more sensitive.

Like I said, I respect the rights of all the people and groups mentioned here to do or say pretty much whatever they want, My question to them is if they really think they should, is it really a good idea?

Here Goes

Okay, so I was driving home from class the other day and I heard some shit on the radio that seriously pissed me off. (I'll save what it actually was for the next post.) I found myself fighting the strong urge to call into the show and rage on the topic, I spent the rest of the drive mulling over exactly what I would say. then realized they this wasn't a talk show, and they didn't want to hear it. I found myself with a case of rage blue-balls I had so much I wanted to say and no one to listen. then it hit me, the Internet will always listen. it doesn't matter how bat-shit crazy people are, the Internet always listens....

...by the way, I don't consider myself "bat-shit crazy" but I'll leave that for all of you to decide after a few posts....

Anyway, here I am, and I'm gonna simply rant and rave about whatever is irking me at and given point.

I'll be trying to post on a somewhat consistent basis, I make no promises. I will however say that with the rate the world seems to be going to hell (I figure about mach 3 by now) that I should have no shortage of material.

......here comes the disclaimer part..........

Everyone has different opinions on certain things. I am fully aware that many of you out there may not agree with my views, and to be honest.......I don't care........but that's the point right? I'm here to say whats on my mind. Hell, if you don't agree I WANT you to post a comment and let me know what you think. What I don't want is, A) for anyone to think I'm trying to change their stance or opinion on any given topic. And 2) for anyone to try and change mine. that's not what this is about. We may disagree, but I respect your right to have any opinion you want, and your right to express it. All I'm asking for is the same respect.
